Many of us face constant stress and anxiety every day, thus more than ever we must take good care of ourselves.
Did you know that your skin is the barrier that protects your body from harmful things?
Skin is the largest organ in your body, and it helps with vitamin production. As well as it regulates your body temperature and helps with the immune defense.
How to treat your skin?
Facials are one of the most relaxing procedures you can do for yourself from the comfort of your own home. With a few simple steps, we will show you how to make your skin feel softer and smoother by recreating a SPA-level facial treatment at home.
Giving your skin just a little bit of that extra love will leave your face feeling revitalized and fresh, therefore reducing your stress levels.
Pamper yourself once or twice a month, because you know that you deserve it!
Create a relaxing ambiance at home, so that you feel the calming energy caress your skin.
Make sure that you choose a time of the day when you will not be disturbed. Make time for yourself!
Turn on some relaxing music, light up some candles and breathe for a minute. Make sure your room temperature is pleasant and wear a comfortable robe or pajamas.
Before starting your facial for that extra relaxation try taking an Epson salt bath or soaking your feet in warm water. You can add a few drops of lavender essential oil, as lavender is well known for its calming, soothing, and relaxing properties. If you’re not a fan of lavender, then choose a scent that feels right to you.
Most importantly, always listen to your body and use the ingredients and scents that make YOU feel good!
Before you start any procedure or treatment, make sure that your skin is clean from any makeup, other cosmetic products, dirt, or any other impurities.
Makeup and product leftovers on your face can result in a less effective facial, therefore you can even try a double cleanse.
If you decide to give double cleanse a try, then start with an oil-based cleanser as it will better remove makeup and different skincare products from your face.Apply the cleanser using medium-sized circular motions and then remove it with a cotton pad or facial sponge and rinse everything off using lukewarm water.
Then repeat the steps using a water-based cleanser as it will leave your face squeaky clean.
Any facial done at either home or a SPA needs to involve exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. As we get older our skin becomes less efficient at removing dead skin cells naturally, therefore it can make your skin look older than it should.
Skin exfoliation will help to open your pores and smoothen your skin. Removing the excess oils and dead skin cells from your face will boost the skin’s radiance and improve blood circulation as well as it will keep your skin soft.
Because our skin gets thinner and more delicate with age, we recommend choosing more gentle exfoliators.
Choose enzyme or chemical exfoliator instead of mechanical exfoliation like scrubs, as they can leave micro-tears on the face no matter your skin type or age.
Use your fingertips to apply the exfoliator and gently massage it into your skin, then rinse it off.
After exfoliation your pores will be open, thus try looking for a face mask with detoxifying ingredients that would help to clean out those pores.
If you are not a fan of clay or charcoal masks, choose a mask based on the current issues your skin is facing.
If your face is usually dry, try a mask with hyaluronic acid for hydration. Face mask with peptide and antioxidants will help to smooth lines.
Gently massage your choice of the mask into the skin and make yourself a green tea.Sit back, relax, have a cup of tea, and wait for the mask to work its magic for15-20 minutes.
You don’t need any fancy devices to prepare your pores for moisturizer. You can fill a bowl with hot water and lean over it with a towel over your head to let your skin and pores open up even more while masking. Or if you’re up to it, get in the shower and let the mask steam gently off your face.
The final step for your home facial or any facial for that matter is to moisturize! A well-moisturized skin is one of the biggest keys to achieving a radiant glow.
Mix a few drops of your favorite serum into your moisturizer and gently massage it in.
If you have any facial tools, make use of them. Try massaging your moisturizer in with gua sha or jade roller but remember to be gentle, so that you do not bruise your skin.
After your home SPA treatment, make sure to spend the rest of your evening relaxing, drink plenty of water and go to bed early for that good night's sleep.
Repeat the home facial at least once a month and your skin will be more radiant and glowing, making you feel more confident and happier.
