HOW TO DRESS FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS OVER 50
The holiday season is right around the corner.
Looking fabulous on Christmas and dancing the night away on New Year’s Eve? Yes, please! But there’s just one thing: I have nothing to wear!
Even though almost every woman on the planet at some point has said those words out loud, somehow with age we become less confident about our looks and our body. Sometimes it gets hard to find anything to wear for a special occasion.
That dress from your twenties that made you feel like you can rule the world…
Yes, it doesn’t fit you anymore. But guess what? There are million other dresses. And no matter your age, you can still rule the world and look like a million bucks!
Here are a few tips and tricks that will help you to find the right dress for any occasion. You will feel like a goddess again!
Get to know your body shape
Our bodies change throughout our lifetime. And it’s not only our age that affects it. Childbirth, stress, diet, activity levels, and many other factors. So, you shouldn’t get frustrated if you can’t fit into the same clothes, you wore 5, 10, or 30 years ago.
To choose the right apparel for a special occasion (or even if you’re looking for jeans for that matter), you should know your body shape:
- Fuller in the middle
- Fuller on the bottom
- Fuller on the top
- Not curvy
Just like a little black dress, a wrap dress has become a classic. It flatters most body types, but especially fuller on the top body shape. You can hide anything you want to hide.
It is an excellent choice for different body types. If you’re thin and want to add up some shape, this will look fabulous.
Little black dress
Even though you’re not 30 anymore, you should always have a little black dress in your closet. It’s a staple in all wardrobes.
Choose knee-length or longer. It can be anything from an A-line dress to body fitting. Go for simple but elegant designs. It will be your lifesaver in times of emergency.
Lace Cocktail dress
Lace is feminine and can soften your appearance. There are a variety of shapes for lace dresses, but they often look more flattering on shapely figures.
This will be a good option for those of you with bigger hips and busts, and a smaller waist. The long lines will help to elongate your body, therefore, creating a slimming effect.
